Val Spatcher
We are sad to share news that club VP Val Spatcher passed away a few days ago. Val was the wife of Roy Spatcher who died in 2021 in his 91 st year. Both Val and Roy were passionate about Henley Rowing Club and gave so much time and effort into the smooth operation of club premises, events and fundraising. Wycliffe Big Head
Given that the Thames is flooded and out of bounds for most rowing Henley RC has been doing most of its water training at the Eton Dorney rowing lake but competition has been none existent with all recent Thames based events cancelled. A tribute to George Bowsher 1935 - 2025
George Bowsher was born in 1935. At aged 16 he became an apprentice at Waldens a local building firm where he was soon spotted by Henley Rowing Club’s Roy Spatcher and Bob Bushnell as a potential rower! 24-Hour “Row to Seville” Challenge, Raising Over £18,000
Henley Rowing Club has successfully completed an extraordinary 24-hour fundraising challenge, rowing the distance from Henley to Seville - in kilometres, on Concept2 rowing machines and bikes - to raise funds for much needed equipment.
