Val Spatcher

We are sad to share news that club VP Val Spatcher passed away a few days ago.  

Val was the wife of Roy Spatcher who died in 2021 in his 91^st year.  Both Val and Roy were passionate about Henley Rowing Club and gave so much time and effort into the smooth operation of club premises, events and fundraising.  While Roy was House and Bar Manager, Val was busy running the weekend breakfasts, catering for rowers and volunteers at Henley Sculls and 4s & 8s, and cooking post training meals for the seniors.   During HRR she and Roy used to run the car park together and spend every day there.  Although they missed seeing the Thames Cup crew race in 2005 they had the bunting out and champagne ready at the club for the victors!  

Val was also the club welfare officer until she stepped away from the club in 2010 when Roy retired.
