Henley Rowing Club delivered a strong performance at the Reading Small Boats Head last weekend, coming away with six impressive wins across both the boys’ and girls’ squads.
With around 450 crews competing across three divisions, conditions were near perfect for the 3,700-metre course from the Roebuck Hotel to Reading Rowing Club.
The boys’ squad secured victories in the J16 Quad Sculls, J16 Double Sculls, and J14 Coxed Quads, showcasing depth and consistency across the age groups.
The girls’ squad continued Henley’s success with three further wins. In the WJ17 Coxed Fours, Scarlett Hyde, Izzy Hughes, Holly Jackson, Daisy Millard, and cox Elise Pindoria stormed to victory, finishing an impressive 37 seconds ahead of Wimbledon High School.

Switching from sweep to sculling, Izzy Hughes then joined Polina Bezuhly, Juliet Len, and Emily Robinson to take gold in the WJ16 Quad Sculls, beating local rivals Marlow RC by 13 seconds.

Adding to the tally, Scarlett Hyde collected her second win of the day alongside Sophie Floyd in the WJ17 Pairs, finishing eight seconds clear of Wallingford RC.

This strong early-season performance highlights the club’s depth of talent and sets a positive tone for the months ahead.
