Last weekend was the Fours Head raced over the Championship course from Mortlake to Putney a distance of just over 4 miles. Due to the popularity of the event it is now split over three days. This year for the first time the nearly 300 junior crews raced on the Friday. Unfortunately the weather was not kind and for those who had to boat early they had three hours of torrential rain.
Henley had three crews race. The girls coxed four Sophie Floyd, Holly Jackson, Scarlett Hyde, Daisy Millard, cox Elise Pindoria finished fourth in their category behind, Headington, Wallingford and Shiplake but a comfortable 30 secs ahead of the rest of pack.

In coxless fours Evie Meeks, Chloe Hughes, Molly Hall, Lilian Graham had to settle for second place finishing a few seconds behind Headington.

Whilst the fastest British crew in their category the Girls Under 16 coxed quad of Erin Goodall, Izzy Hughes, Polina Bezhuli, Camilla Barlow and cox Emily Robinson had to settle for second place being pipped to the win by Team Lombardia from Italy.

Henley fielded five crews at this year’s Veteran Fours Head on Sunday. The standout performance came from the Masters B 4X of Mike Lambourne, Jack Barrett, John Gelling, and Nick Friend. The crew won their category and placing an impressive fourth overall. Their time put them just behind their younger local rivals from Upper Thames. The victory also meant that they have now won the same event at the Henley Masters Regatta, the Masters Head of the River, and the British Masters Championships, securing a clean sweep across the major Masters competitions.
