Henley Rowing Club once again showcased its prowess on the water as their senior men’s eight, affectionately known as "Dad’s Army," stormed to victory at the Eights Head of the River Race on Saturday, March 23rd. This seasoned crew, with an average age of 44, secured the top spot in the Masters C category amidst stiff competition from across the globe.
The Henley crew of Elliot Cole, Tom Jost, Rob Edmondson, John Gelling, Nick Friend, James Padmore, James Harris, Robbie McGow, and coxed by Rose Copus showcased their collective experience and camaraderie, prevailing against crews from Holland, Switzerland, and the UK.
Despite the fact that they haven’t been able to get out on the water much because of all the recent flooding, they proved that age and familial responsibilities is no barrier to success in the sport they love.
