Henley entered x3 crews for this year’s Masters Regatta and yet again managed to bring home some medals for the club.
Following on from their success in the British Master Regatta, Rob Wilson and Mike Jenning’s winning ways were halted by stiff competition from St Andrew Boat Club.
The Masters Women’s Quad of Helen Knowles, Linda Thomas, Valerie Bennett and Helen Turnell fared well, beating off San Diego by ½ a length on Friday in a fast time of 4mins 19secs which took them into the semi-final on Saturday. Here they met tough competition against a TSS Walker crew, beaten by 1 ¼ length.
The big winner of the weekend for HRC however was Sean Collinson in the Masters Singles. He blasted through the competition, seeing off Essendon Boat Club from Australia in the quarter final, then Crabtree Boat Club in the semis. The final was a closely fought battle against Stourport, but Sean kept his nerve right to the very end, winning by just 3ft. Following on from the British Master’s Regatta in Nottingham, this is another great performance by the Henley and marks the club’s commitment to drive great results from all sectors of its membership from Junior to Elite to Master and Veterans.
