A number of Henley senior squad crews competed at Ghent International Regatta in Belgium over the weekend.
The men’s coxed four of Stan Admiraal, Chris Mitchell, Andy Pettican and Richard Moody coxed by Searle rowed well in the heats against a fiercely competitive field and narrowly missed out on the final.
David Read put in a number of solid performances in the single sculls over the two day regatta, culminating in a silver medal in the final on Sunday.
The senior women’s coxless four also picked up a silver medal in their event. Following their recent success at Wallingford Regatta, the four of Lizzie Cottrell, Rachel Alder, Catriona Kay and Jenny Spencer were delighted with their result despite challenging conditions on the Belgian course. Coach Pete Wells said ‘these are very encouraging senior squad results at a respected international regatta that attracts competitors from across Europe. The performances over the weekend give us great confidence for the domestic regatta season ahead.”
